Last week, WWE.com broke the blockbuster story that Bret Hart and Vince McMahon had burried the hatchet and after 7 long years, the two would be doing business once again. As if the announcement wasn’t enough, it was accentuated with the picture you thought you’d never see - Bret and Vince, all smiles and shaking hands.
While the picture and the news that Bret had forgiven Vince (at least enough to work on Bret’s upcoming DVD project), several sources indicate that the two continue to share a “very tense and guarded” relationship. As Bret stated in a radio interview last week with Dave Meltzer, his decision to work on the upcoming DVD chronicaling his career was for the fans and to assure his side of the story would be told - not necessarily a sign that things are as cheery as the picture indicates.
Nonetheless, the fact that he was able to come to terms on a project with WWE means that talks between the two parties are finally advancing; the likelihood of Bret Hart appearing at next year’s Hall Of Fame ceremony is consequently at an all-time high.
At this point, contrary to speculation, there is no substance to the rumors that Bret Hart will appearing on WWE television this fall to promote the DVD. Bret is rumored to be inducted into WWE’s Hall of Fame at next year’s WrestleMania 22, but even that is just talk.
With the recent news of Bret and Vince working together and Hulk Hogan’s Bret Hart reference in his debate with Shawn Michaels this past week on RAW, some believe Bret will be at next week’s RAW - which will be live from Montreal. This reporter says: Don’t hold your breath.
