Electronic Arts recently announced it is creating a game based on the classic films, which will use many of the same settings and characters -- including the likeness and voice of Marlon Brando as the Don himself. According to the Post article, Coppola expresses his disdain on this Sunday's edition of "Sunday Morning ShootOut" on AMC. "I knew nothing about it. They never asked me if I thought it was a good idea," the article quotes Coppola as saying. "I went and I took a look at what it was ... What they do is they use the characaters everyone knows and they hire those actors to be there and only to introduce very minor characters. And then for the next hour they shoot and kill each other." EA's game, which features open-ended gameplay almost certainly inspired by the brutal Grand Theft Auto series, marks the publishing giant's foray into Mature-rated titles. Apparently the game is already too violent for the original film's director. "I had absolutely nothing to do with the game and I disapprove," Coppola says. "I think it's a misuse of film." Electronic Arts obtained the video game rights to The Godfather from Paramount, which owns the rights to the film property.
